shequality_onwhiteThe PR Council is proud to announce a new initiative, aptly named The SHEQUALITY Project, designed to help women executives rise in the ranks of public relations agencies. SHEQUALITY aims to create a consistent pipeline of strong female leaders, mentors and allies, to engender more women leaders, and to achieve equality in the top positions at PR firms of all sizes.

The initiative was sparked by female board members of the PR Council committed to seeing more women achieve success by sharing the tools, knowledge and pathways to help them reach career goals. The SHEQUALITY Project committee is led by Maureen Lippe, CEO of Lippe Taylor, who said “This started out as a desire to bring top women leaders together to network and has turned into a powerful and relevant program for executive women in the PR industry. We are all very excited and committed to making this new program a great success.”

The SHEQUALITY mandate is to build women’s skills, advocate for an environment of equality regarding gender pay, career opportunities and financial backing/funding, as well as to create more champions for women in the PR workforce. Specific activities under The SHEQUALITY Project’s umbrella are regional networking dinners, workshops and events and content creation to raise awareness and educate others on the topic including a video produced by the film team at Weber Shandwick.

Women of the Council Dinners

In addition, we encourage our membership to host networking dinners in their markets. It was at such a dinner in New York that SHEQUALITY was born, and we hope to see Women of the Council Dinners happen across the country as a way to foster new and meaningful relationships and business opportunities.

Interested in championing or joining a dinner in your market? Since the launch of SHEQUALITY we’ve heard from many of you, with networking events planned in:

New York City – hosted by Maureen Lippe, CEO, Lippe Taylor

Atlanta – hosted by Sandra Fathi, Founder & President, Affect
Chicago – hosted by Virginia Devlin, Founder & President, Current Marketing
Dallas – hosted by Tonya Veasey, Founder & President, OCG PR
Minneapolis – hosted by Lisa Hannum, President & CEO and Ayme Zemke, SVP, Client Service, Beehive Strategic Communication
New York – hosted by Maureen Lippe, CEO, Lippe Taylor
San Francisco – hosted by Erica McCabe, EVP, Current Marketing
Seattle – hosted by Amanda Foley, Founding Partner, Duo Public Relations
Washington D.C. – hosted by Carrie Jones, Principal, JPA Health Communications

Organizing a dinner is easy. The host in each market invites female executives from local PR agencies, chooses a venue and date, issues an invite (view templates here), and coordinates payment from each individual attendee. All we ask is that you don’t leave the dinner until you establish a group mission, commit to communicating regularly and, most importantly, figure out meaningful ways to help each other advance career goals.
