As the world of work has rapidly evolved in recent years, SourceCode developed a data storytelling concept to gauge the sentiment of U.S. workers on a monthly basis. Our team collaborated with Workhuman, the company revolutionizing how employees celebrate, connect with, and appreciate each other in the workplace, to craft and launch a monthly index. Dubbed the “Human Workplace Index,” this monthly survey aims to help companies and leaders understand the needs of their employees, and give employees the opportunity to share their feelings and view on workplace policies, procedures and overall culture. We had a goal of securing coverage that centered around Workhuman’s key messaging of fostering human connection and promoting recognition in the workplace.
We conducted research around current workplace conversations to drive the strategy for the survey development. From there, based on the survey results and themes, we identified the key verticals to reach our target audience and the best reporters to tell our story to, emphasizing the need for appreciation in the workplace. In addition to the monthly survey, SourceCode pulled the top trending concepts from the past year into a survey for an end of year reflection.
Since the first report’s launch, our team has secured a number of top tier articles that utilize the data, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNBC, Forbes and Inc. as well as priority HR trade outlets. The survey became a go-to monthly source for reporters, some of which expressed interest in certain topics for future surveys. With this survey as part of our ongoing comms program for Workhuman, we were also about to achieve a 43% increase in total coverage YoY, a 67% increase in tier 1 business coverage YoY, a 500% increase in tech trades coverage YoY, and 300% increase in broadcast YoY.
