Looking for input from any members on biweekly payroll schedules (26 pay periods, typically paid every other Friday) versus bi-monthly (24 pay periods).
The payroll calendar for 2026 appears to include 27 payrolls: the December 18 payroll would technically be the 26th, but the following one would fall on January 1, 2027. Because January 1 is a holiday, some payroll companies default the pay date to the day before—December 31, 2026—resulting in 27 pay periods for 2026.
For agencies on bi-weekly schedules: Are you adjusting salaries to account for 26 vs. 27 pay periods, or keeping salaries consistent and communicating that there will be 27 pay periods due to how the holiday falls?
Appreciate any input.
