We actually offer incentives at all levels – not for just an intro, but for new business landed over a certain $ threshold. In the case of retainer work, it’s a little piece for two years

We actually offer incentives at all levels – not for just an intro, but for new business landed over a certain $ threshold. In the case of retainer work, it’s a little piece for two years which is also incentive to keep the client happy. Not a groundbreaking game changer since introduced, but a nice perk with payoff for the org and the individual.

We also offer incentives for all levels – a specific amount for an intro meeting and then a percentage of the first year’s revenue. Business Development initiatives are part of the competencies for Director level and above, so it’s factored into the bonus structure and reviews.

We also offer an incentive at all levels if new biz is referred and then awarded (there is a minimum dollar amount the SOW has to be). 50% of the incentive is paid out after 50% of the fee revenue from the contract is realized and then the other 50% pays out after the remaining portion of the revenue is realized (this is true whether it’s a longer-term retainer or a shorter-term project.) There are stipulations – like it has to truly be new business (not a client that left and came back and not a subsidiary or new brand within and existing company, etc.). That said, this is something we’ve reworked a few different times and will probably continue to refine.
