Hi all — looking for a quick reality check. We’re revisiting our parental leave policy and want to support recovery and equal parenting time while staying financially responsible as a small firm.

We’re considering 6 weeks at 100% pay and 6 weeks at 65%, inclusive of any state benefits (so we’d top up where programs exist and fully fund where they don’t), with the company-paid portion capped at 12 weeks. Any additional state-provided leave would continue per state law.

For those operating across multiple states, how are you coordinating with PFML programs — topping up or stacking? Have you set aside a reserve for this? Any sample language or lessons learned would be appreciated.
