Analysis of Agency Costs

Our 2024 Analysis of Agency Costs has been launched. If you would like to participate, contact kim@prcouncil.net.

The Analysis of Agency Costs includes a deep dive into payroll costs per department and the overall P&L. Participants are able to compare their agencies’ financials to similarly sized agencies. Participants are assigned—and reported on by—a number to protect anonymity.

Benefits Study

The Benefits Study has become increasingly important as hybrid work has become the norm, making finding and retaining great talent an even bigger challenge. Agencies are taking a close look at their operations protocols and policies in order to respond to the needs of the workforce. To overcome hiring gridlock and sweeten the pot for existing staff, agencies are focusing their attention on benefit offerings to their employees. This survey report identifies broad categories of employee benefits and the prevalence of respective offerings at PRC Member agencies including:

  • Time Off Benefits (consisting of holidays, Summer Fridays, time off for mental health, volunteerism, PTO/Vacation and bereavement)
  • Work/Life Benefits
  • Health Care Benefits
  • Training/Education/Personal Services
  • Business Travel Benefits
  • Employee Recognition
  • Parental/Family Leave
  • Return To Office
Business Benchmark Study

The Business Benchmark Study was developed to provide agency management with key financial benchmarks relevant to integrated public relations firms. The report includes:

  • Labor Hours and Staff Utilization
  • Gross Income per Employee
  • Reward and Incentive Compensation
  • Agency Compensation Methodologies
Compensation Study

The intent of the Compensation Study is to provide the industry with reliable and statistically relevant salary data by geographic market and agency size across nearly 200 positions in our integrated agencies. Bonuses are also included as a separate section. Since the study requests salary data as of July 1 of the current year, the data is reliably timely.

Labor Bill Rate Study

The Labor Bill Rate Study serves as a reliable framework for agencies when establishing benchmarks and pricing. The data, coupled with best practice guidance, provides stakeholders with a sound mechanism for discussing pricing as well as allows the parties to focus on the critical tasks of aligning the scope of deliverables, service expectations, the desired scope outcomes, and the clients’ goals.
