The Challenge

People with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) often feel invisible—lacking representation and recognition in culture and society. Despite the life-changing technology of Insulet’s Omnipod tubeless insulin delivery device, T1D patients rarely saw themselves reflected in mainstream media. Insulet sought to break through this invisibility and make the T1D community feel seen and heard.

The Solution

Porter Novelli worked with Insulet to partner with music producer Andrew Huang and T1D content creator Lexie Peterson to create “The Pod Drop (Pod Change Theme Song)”— a catchy, one-minute electronic track made entirely from the sounds of changing an Omnipod. The campaign launched on social platforms and all major music streaming services, letting the T1D community hear themselves in culture for the first time. For every social post featuring the song, Omnipod donated $1 to Breakthrough T1D, further empowering the community and fueling participation.

The Result

“The Pod Drop (Pod Change Theme Song)” generated over one million organic video views across social channels, with 100% positive feedback from the community. The Omnipod name gained major visibility across music platforms, while the song itself became a rallying anthem—sparking dialogue, representation, and pride within the T1D community, and bringing its lived experiences into popular culture in a uniquely creative, authentic way.
